Powell and Obama are both "black" according to the one drop rule we tend to use in this country. However, neither are African-American, though both have adopted the African-American identity because their appearance basically forced them to.

Just goes to show how ridiculous the whold concept of race is. Jeremiah Wright is a freakin' black nationalist, but by the looks of him he could almost just as easily be a really tan white guy.
