http://www.gallup.com/poll/105691/McCain-vs-Obama-28-Clinton-Backers-McCain.aspx

It may just be an impulse thing right now, but if not, so much for unity. For the Democrat's sake, they better hope that 28% is concentrated in Missouri, Arkansas, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Florida.

Many Hillary supporters in China will make the same choice.

they may say that now, but by the fall, I think it'll probably be down to 10% or so. There's just a lot of bitterness because her campaign turned the primary into a fratricidal war over race and gender. I suspect a lot of those are white democrats who live in states Obama has no chance of winning, like MS, AL, TN, KY, and WV.

much like Conservatives will rally to McCain at the end of the day, Hillary's supporters will rally to Obama.

Oh, it would be sweet.

I would love to see it happen.

As well, if, as in the poll, 19% of Obama supporters voted for McCain if Clinton is the nominee.

We all know these numbers will not hold until November.  The Democrats will, for the most part, come together to have a fighting chance in the election.  I do not doubt that a certain percentage of these Democrats will in fact support McCain in November, however, unfortunately, nowhere near the 28% and 19%.

It's wishful thinking to think that it will be that high come the November election. McCain will be lucky to get 10% of the Democratic vote.

This has already been posted once. I honestly dont believe Hillary supporters, the most anti-bush/iraq war bunch in America, are going to just cast a vote for McCain of all people...just because they are bitter about their candidate losing. I could be wrong though, and in that case we dont deserve to win in November if they really want to destroy our chances like that just because of pettyness. I really hope im not wrong...and that this poll means nothing within the next few months.

McCain doesn't need 28% of Clinton backers in close states.  Just 5-10%.

Uh, what?

im no fan of obama.  i respect mccain a hell of a lot more than obama.  and as ive stated before, i find his life story to be much more inspiring than obama's.

but as everyone knows, my most important issue is health care.  mccain is completely in the dark on that issue. we cant afford another 4/8 years of complete inaction.

that is the only reason why i may vote obama.

Walter, you bring tears to my eyes, contemplating that there is still a glimmer of hope that you may yet return to your political roots, and entrust the future of this nation to a true American hero, a man who will keep America safe, a man who is best qualified to answer the phone at 3:00 A.M.

We in the McCain camp cannot express in mere words the joy we feel at this time, realizing that you may, just may, be coming over to offer your support.

And don't worry about health care.  I can assure you that John McCain and the Republicans will be coming out with a comprehensive health care plan that will astound and amaze you.

lol...dont worry about healthcare. You can continue to die and suffer from overpriced healthcare that wont cover you in the least bit for the next 4-8 years...we're just glad your jumping on the bandwagon to support McCain! *Smile, winks and thumbs up*

McCain has not elucidated his health care plan yet. It should be interesting. His foreign policy speech make him seem like a Kerry clone, although most of it was generalities that we need to try to get along short of war.

I must admit that this Pubbie, tends to favor compulsory health insurance because of the moral hazard problem. If you don't have health insurance, and not much net worth, you still get health services, and somebody else is paying. I have visions of some twenty something getting into a motorcycle accident. Partisan and ideological divides don't help me much in thinking about important issues. It's mostly noise, and posturing.

The worst is global warming. If anyone has read anything intelligent about the merits of the issue as to the science, pro and con, raise your hand. If someone has post a link damn it!  All I can find in general is spam.

According to The Economist, Mike Murphy told a group of Big Pharma lobbyists that “the happy old days of the Republican establishment in DC protecting you from cost attacks are over.”

That means support for importation of generics from Canada and the fed gov using its negotiating power to reduce medicine costs for seniors.

Here is the Torie solution about drugs. The US pays for most drug reseach, because we pay more for drugs, because in one buyer socialist medicine countries there is but one buyer, and they force the price down closer to the marginal cost to produce, which is nominal. It is the cost of research that is the big cost. The answer?  A law requiring drug companies not to charge more for drugs in the US than elsewhere (sure charge less is Zambia), after adjusting for cost savings from volume sales. They can charge whatever they want, but can't price discriminate to favor "monopsony" buyers. The result? Drug prices go up in Europe and Japan and Canada, and down in the US, and all the rich places pay their fair share for drug research. It is all so damn obvious and sensible, which might be why few support it.

Hmm...given that the USD is falling faster than gravity, that may not work, to say the least.

3) Let your life savings pay for a seventh cmpany Learjet.
4) Even if you fail, you can rest assured you contributed to the economy by increasing demand for funeral homes.

From what I read McCain does have ideas about bringing down healthcare costs. According to The Economist his plan is the best in that department.
