Interesting that 35% of those who think Obama is Muslim would vote for him.

On the other hand, a few years back National Geographic found 11% of Americans couldn't find the US on a world map. I wouldn't be surprised if there is some overlap with this 10%.

lol. There is a decent chunk of the people who think he's a Muslim voting for him. I'm pretty surprised by that.

What percent of voters believe that Hillary Clinton is a man? Surely if 10% believe that Obama is muslim, that means at least 10% of the people surveyed believe Hillary is a man. If none of them think Hillary's a man, I don't know what they're smoking Wink.

What is Obama's overall lead over McCain?

Found it.

Obama 49 - McCain 43

Clinton 49 - McCain 44

Obama is back ahead of McCain in the RCP average while Clinton is still just slightly behind.

Look at the 2004 Graph, especially at the end of March. Kerry also overtook Bush back then ...

And I'm telling you, Obama is actually a Mormon!!! Or was it that other guy? What was his name again? Mitch Romnie? I'm always confused by those obscure sects. Islam, Mormonism, Hindulogy, who can possibly tell them apart?

I'd be curious to know what %age of those who think he's a Muslim don't even know who Obama is, and are just assuming he must be a Muslim because the name "Obama" sounds Muslim.

After all, DMX had apparently never heard of Obama until about two weeks ago.  From an interview:

That's a fairly balanced poll between all the demographics when you look at it.  The only outliners are those with only a HS education and those out in Rural areas (which are probably the same).

The extreme stratification of response over whether the interviewee had heard much about the Wright incident is interesting.  I wonder if the episode didn't hurt Obama that much because, while some were turned off, others learned that he was, in fact, Christian.

It's probably more correlation than causation.  People who follow politics are likely to have heard about Wright.  People who follow politics are also likely to know that Obama's a Christian.  But that doesn't mean that the one caused the other.

Maybe someone should do a "Do you know who Barack Obama is?" poll. Let's see how many people answer "some African prime minister" or "a leading al-Qaeda member".

well when you consider that people who think Obama is a Muslim are likely to be the least-informed, it's probably not surprising that 35% would vote for him anyway.

lol @ DMX btw

Probably so.  I was just wondering whether the incident might not have helped to put Obama's Christianity out there, at least.

Much of what I would expect to hear from someone who has never graduated beyond the sixth grade, who drives around in an old pick up truck with a rifle on the back window, who has never read anything more advanced than Superman comics, and who is a red neck bigot.
