george wallace doesnt get shot and narrowly wins the democrat nominations.  he chooses henry jackson as his veep.

the liberals bolt and form the 'independent progressive' party.  at their convention in madison wisconsin, the progressives nominate alaska senator mike gravel for president and wisonsin senator gaylord nelson for vice president.

how does this race shape up?
