Tough call.

Phil seems to like rap and modern "R & B".

BRTD likes emo, screamo and other mo music.

I wouldn't say that I like most rap but yes, I tend to enjoy rap (T.I., Yung Joc, Yung Jeezy, Lil Wayne)  and modern R & B along with Stevie Wonder. Then again, I also like OneRepublic..

Phil. He listens to mainstream trash, I listen to underground art.

For the record as long as non-emo is concerned I did like some of the songs from "Rent".

I voted for Phil even though I hate BRTD's attitude towards music much, much more. Phil at least doesn't have that conceited uppity bullsh**t vibe constantly seeping from his headphones and fingertips. Maybe one day he'll be content to enjoy his music and allow others to enjoy theirs without thinking that he has superior sophisticated taste. I hope all of the bands BRTD likes end up on the radio and then end up in the background to credit card and cell phone company commercials.

Irrelevant. Most of your emo threads are you railing on about how nobody but you knows what "real" emo is and that "real" emo is never on the radio, etc etc

I completely understand the sentiment that no one understands what kind of music you enjoy, but there's a certain point where you just need to.. let go and enjoy the music for what it is.

BRTD most likely. I dislike both genres, but modern R&B beats the crap out of whatever that bullshreet BRTD likes is.

Well. Mike Naso, for instance. JJ, I seem to recall. The Mikado, as he has rightly pointed out. Gustaf. MasterJedi. No doubt dozens of others where I don't know anything about their musical tastes.

I'd say they both have less than par tastes in music... though Phil is certainly less hostile towards other music, and I agree with him:  Emo music is trash.  It's like the 80's "man and his synthesizer" bands.. they all kind of sound the same, have the same semantics, etc... and they all whine whine whine.

It's the proverbial "country music (you know.. wife left me, dog ran away, house burned down stuff)" of the rebellious suburban American kids.

BRTD, everything he's ever listened to has been unlistenable. At least I can tolerate some of Phil's music if I had to.

The first part makes no sense, the second even less consider you said it's for SUBURBAN kids when in fact part of the whole reason I hate suburbs is the lack of emo venues in them.
