FDR and Eisenhower are two Presidents I hold in a very positive light. Everyone else kinda blows.

edit: Teddy Roosevelt is anotherone I like, but not as much as the first two.

Teddy Roosevelt. Actually he's probably the best of all time.

Words of wisdom.  How can these be the words of a bigot, Tweed?  He is talking about peoples' mindsets, not their birth.

Yeah, if that's your evidence he's a bigot you've proved nothing.

Admittedly, from someone who is a fan of TR, in our modern age he'd be labeled a bigot. He wasn't too out of step with the people of his times, though, and was in some ways progressive on race issues. But I think, ultimately, to pigeonhole someone from a century ago as a "bigot" based on our modern perceptions is unfair.

"The settler and pioneer have at bottom had justice on their side; this great continent could not have been kept as nothing but a game preserve for squalid savages."

"..it is of incalculable importance that America, Australia, and Siberia should pass out of the hands of their red, black, and yellow aboriginal owners, and become the heritage of the dominant world races."

and so on

True. Everyone must be judged relative to their times. If you or I had grown up 100 years ago our world perspectives would be radically different in all liklihood.

Harding, for running the most laissez-faire administration of this century (Coolidge comes in a close second).

The obvious choice is FDR, but I voted LBJ as he is so underated and was in a way less of a fascist then FDR.  But every single man on that list is a fascist.

Reagan easily number one, after that any of these could be second:

Truman, Harding, Kennedy
