Reagan, no doubt.  Every GOP nut seems to love that senile old grandfather, despite the increased deficit, focus on religious fanatics, and his sticking a giant middle finger up to the poorer people in the country.

FDR, Reagan or Lincoln.

Their function is to hang around and be constantly useful as a goad. The ultimate aim is not such humane small potatoes as repatriating refugees.

Reagan.  Jefferson's also up there; he made some poor decisions (embargo/intercourse act, dismantling of military).  Obviously he's still roughly in the top 1/3, but he definitely doesn't deserve to be in the top 5 as I see many people place him.

Lincoln and FDR.

Lincoln probably more so, since people seem to believe he "had" to preserve the Union. He just wanted to. There was no need to fight that disastrous war.

FDR I'm not even going to get into...every economic liberal's demigod (hyperbole). The idea that he won the Second World War II is also pushing the facts, if you want to assign thanks to anyone; perhaps you should look to Uncle Joe.

Ronald Reagan, John F. Kennedy and Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Wilson is way more overrated than the last two. He basically suspended civil liberties in order to pursue an imperialist foreign policy that came back to bite us in the ass. Also he expanded segregation. At least FDR kept this country from falling apart (in addition to being strong in WWII), and JFK's New Frontier was very successful.

Lincoln & FDR

Lincoln was a terrorist

FDR was a socialist

both suspended habeas corpus and drastically expanded the size and scope of the Federal government.

Harry Truman. He has one of the most scandal ridden administrations in hisotry and oversaw a costly quagmire in Korea (say that 5-times fast). I give him credit for NATO and being (along with Reagan) one of the top two presidents in dealing with the Soviets, but his presidency was underwhelming. However, Harry didn't want the job so I should cut him some slack.

FDR. He was fine with what Hitler was doing in Europe. If it wasn't for Pearl Harbour, you never would have entered WWII.

Wilson scores a close second - same again, but WWI.

No, wrong. The US already delivered weapons to Britain before it entered the war. Public opinion and congress both were against the US entering the war, that's why FDR needed a good reason and the Japanese delivered it by attacking Pearl Harbour.

I can agree with that. Although I think that's mainly due to how recent they are. Give them another 50 years and they may be downplayed by their respective parties.
