Wasn't Allen losing by 20-30 in the last poll?

Allen's favorables are 59-34, not 39-34 ...

With Allen at 39% approval and Collins at 72%, she would kill him 2:1 ... Tongue

Allen continues to whittle away at the margin. This is the closest he has been yet. Susan Collins is finished.

I would love to see Allen take this seat.  Collins used to be an independent-thinking Republican but she's really disappointed me over the last few years.  Snowe and Allen will make a good team.

you're kidding right?  Collins is a popular incumbent and this race is a toss-up at best for the Democrats.  Maybe if Obama spends his entire campaign in Maine Allen would be a shoe-in, but otherwise this is still an uphill battle for him.  Besides, don't you think its a little earlier to be declaring an incumbent Senator "finished?"

Clearly, this is a reasonable extrapolation of the polling data.

He definitely has narrowed the gap though.  I do think it is possible for him to pull off an upset, although obviously he needs to get Collins below her 50% threshold first.  Admittedly, this will be an uphill task considering how popular she is.

Any incumbent below the 73% threshold is in deadly danger!

Collins seems to be a decent enough moderate Republican
