Exploratory Thread - Papal Conclave 2013
«

Well... the summer months are here and I'm gonna have a bit of time on my hands again. I'm just putting out feelers to see who might be interested.
I'll be making some significant rules changes from last time which will be posted later. The basic thrust of them will be to make the game more dynamic and keep momentum going.
Anyone who played last time whose character hasn't expired is welcome to come back and play the same character. New players are also welcome. Also, if someone wants to adopt one of the main non-player Cardinals from the last Conclave, I'll allow it as well.
Also, with the Third Vatican Council going on, the issues are going to be a little different and involve higher stakes than last time.

Links to the last game, for those of you who weren't around or did not participate.

How much detail would us non-Catholics need to know to credibly participate?

I'll try to keep the inside baseball aspects of it as limited as possible. Since there is a Council going on and since the international scene has taken a decided turn for the worst in my TL, most of it is going to be about big issues. Even still, last time, I was pretty generous with how far I was willing to let the players go in their statements. Well, outside of orthodoxy, so you wouldn't need to know a bunch so you could tow the line, so to speak.

You are more than welcome to play this time. Even if your winning hadn't been a fluke (
) the situation this time will be different enough that you aren't going to be able to win by just doing the same thing.

I wouldn't mind playing as a non-candidate/side story character...

I'll try to work that into the game play somehow.
Perhaps I could make you the Dean of the College of Cardinals and give you a kind of special role.

I would be up for it, assuming I could play a nontraditional-style character like I did last time.

Oy... to be honest, I was kinda hoping people would just forget it. I don't think I'm ever gonna do this again. It was far too time consuming the first time around. Shame on me for reviving it.
