Nationally the third party results were:
Nader      433,466
Badnarik  395,543
Peroutka  140,527
Cobb        117,627

But in several states Peroutka beat Badnarik:
AK, LA, MT, SC, SD, UT.   All strong Bush states indicating Peroutka  and the Constitution Party took away Bush votes.

In several states Cobb beat Badnarik and Peroutka:
RI, ME, OR, CT, DC, HI,  MN.  All Kerry states, confirming that the Greens and Cobb took away Kerry votes.

Everwhere he was on the ballot, Nader came in third.

Unlike 2000 when Nader, flipped FL and NH to Bush, while Buchanan and Libertarians moved NM, IA, OR, and WI to Gore, there was no state that third party candidates took away enough votes from Bush or Kerry to affect the outcome this year.

Interesitngly, all three states that switched from 2000 to 2004: NH, NM, IA were affected by third parties in 2000.

NH would be great for Libertarians considering Ron Paul has a good shot of winning in NH primary.

Sorry but Paul does not have a good shot at winning the NH primary, he has a horrible chance, just as he does of winning a primary in any other part of the nation.

Buchanan and Libertarians only gave those states to Bush in 2000 if you look only at the effect of those votes alone and forget that Nader was hurting Gore in those states by a much larger margins. So to be fair, we need to consider the effects of all 3rd party candidates, and thus it wouldn't really make sense to say 3rd parties cost Bush these states.
