Unfortunately no. It got started a few months later in DC in early 1984. And it didn't come to the Midwest until the early 90s.

All I remember from the Golden Age of Conservatism is eating lots of BBQ.

I don't know... 1985... I guess I was born at the beginning of it, but it wasn't in my neck of the woods (Florida) for another few years. The earliest thing I remember was "Tickle Me Emo" in 1996, where you would tickle the Emo toy and it would cry. The year after that, many of my classmates looked like they've been "mining for love", if you know what I mean.
