The film came along at a particularly good time for us both.  She was, and always has been, a Mommy-girl.  That often happens with a child adopted out of a loving, secure foster home.  She attached immediately to my wife and I was sloppy seconds.  Thirds, if Grandma was around!

After a couple years of mourning this reality, I took her to see this movie.  She's still a Mommy girl (and if you knew my wife, you'd know why -- she's the best).  But the message of the movie was that "a girl wants her Daddy".  I may never be number one to her, but I will cheerfully accept 1-A status!
