1) chain restaurants
2) american/corporate 'food'
3) high fructose corn syrup
4) fats (people)
5) dumbs (americans)

Yes, I'm visiting home for a month, and it is poison.  The only antidote, I have found, is the Indian luncheon buffet.  We have about two in St. Louis that are really authentic and spicy.. and a dozen other bland americanized ones.

Aye, our food is healthier than bland American food. Boring, though.

You are Indian?  I must say your food is not as boring as american food, though I have to admit I'm bored with northern Indian - I focus mostly on our Southern Indian places now, and one place that is kind of an all vegetarian snack type place - really amazing food that is very unlike the fancy northern Indian places.

The bane of the american female (well americans in general).  Try moving away from the land of corporation food and high fructose corn syrup.

5. The crack between the toilet seat and the floor

On my toilet, the seat is very far from the floor.  By seat I mean the attachment that can be lifted or lowered..

But you remind me - I'm pissed off by the lack of a sprayer or any attempt at a bidet-type device on american toilets:  FILTHY!

Then what do you call the support underneath the seat?

Well.. that I would call the toilet itself - a large ceramic object with water inside, etc.

The portion I am referring to is not labeled there.

Is it the the part below the bowl but above the floor?  I would call it perhaps the 'base'.

You mean, Opebo, that you use modern toilets in Thailand borrowed from the European and American traditions where you sit on a seat?

Yes.  In modern gas stations and other public buildings, both Western and Squat toilets are made available.  (obviously the squat toilets are modern and clean, made of ceramic just like Western toilets, and looking nothing like the photo you contributed).

To find toilets that looked like your photo in Thailand would require getting quite far off the beaten path.. perhaps going to a village.  But all sizeable towns and everything on the main highways would be 'modern'.

You're being stupid.  If you have sh**t on your hands, can you get it off with just toilet paper?  Or is it cleaner to use water?

In Thailand I of course use the sprayer, which gets one much cleaner than any toilet paper could ever do, in a matter of seconds.  I do then use toilet paper to dry, but this is not a particularly essential step.

Face it Snowguy, toilets in america are inferior, and american habits are filthy.
