Two non-candidates got almost 30% of the vote. What's up with that?

http://www.electionreturns.state.pa.us/ElectionsInformation.aspx?FunctionID=13&ElectionID=27&OfficeID=1

John McCain 72.7%
Ron Paul 15.9%
Huckabee 11.4%

Paul's supporters are extremely dedicated, and McCain's supporters would have been less likely to turn out because they knew he'd win no matter what.

I know there was low turnout but this deserves some play on MSM. It's quite amusing!

Too bad Romney and Giuliani weren't on the ballot. He could have been knocked into the low 60s.

Well, uh, technically he did close the deal. He's the nominee. But I know what game you want to play. It was about turnout. We don't have a competitive primary here so of course turnout was down. Paul's people are mostly fanatical. They had a stake in the race (for attention at the convention) so 16% isn't surprising.

And you're a fucking asshole. How about you try actually contributing something to a debate at some point, or are you too busy kissing Rick Santorum's ass?

No use arguing this little game. McCain sealed the deal because everyone else has dropped out except Paul, and he's a nonfactor. Why couldn't John Kerry seal the deal in 2004? He let Howard Dean win a state after he dropped out!

That's how ridiculous this thread is.

Take a look at the results after Kerry had the nomination secured from 2004 - mid 70's is about par for the course.

As much as I like to take shots at McCain, this isn't really embarrassing at all.

What's the explanation for Huckabee still hitting double digits? It's not like this is MS.

Now you're just being silly. 70% + is par for the course when a race is over and turnout is down. Some people just do that cause it's fun. I voted for Giuliani in the SC primary even though he hadn't been in the race since Iowa Wink

Stop trying to divert attention away from Obama's miserable performance last night.

As Walter said, we have our very religious parts of the state. Ever hear the saying, "Pennsylvania is Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Alabama in the middle"?

Its probably because McCain sired that black child, and these folks are against miscegenation.

And Lyndon LaRouche got 22% of the vote against Gore in Arkansas.  The turnout is so low and meaningless by now that results are kind of screwy.

I was surprised that Ron Paul got his highest voter total in the whole primary season yet, higher than in California despite low turnout.

I voted for Huckabee FWIW just to display my displeasure with "Uncommitted" not being an option.
