English-F, around 30
she's a very liberal Democrat and will vote Obama

Math-F, not quite 30
she's a conservative Republican, wasn't happy with McCain, will probably end up voting for him though

Science-M, late 30's maybe 40
he's a Dem, but wouldn't tell us who he voted for in the primary.  Safe dem vote

Social Studies-M, mid to late 30's
he tends to agree with me on many issues, also he was in the army, so I'm assuming he's a republican or if not he'll vote for mccain anyway

Music-M, mid 20's
says he's an independent, but surprisingly leans Republican, he might jump on the Obama wave though........my guess is he'll vote Obama

Art-M, mid 20's
not sure..........I think he'll either not vote or for McCain

Computers-F,mid to later 40's
I'm guessing she'll vote for McCain, I know her daughter is a Republican, probably McCain

Spanish-F, 50's
she tends to have liberal views, my guess is Obama

Science: F, about 45
If she's even a citizen (which I doubt is the case), she'll vote straight-ticket Democratic.

Spanish: F, 60
She's Cuban and hates Hugo Chávez. McCain for sure.

Journalism: M, about 30
Obama most likely.

PE: F, about 35
Absolutely no idea, so I go with the default: Obama.

Math: F, 40
She seems apathetic about politics, but is Jewish and a registered Democrat.

English: F, 35
Democratic almost certainly.

Social Studies: F, 35
Democratic for sure.

Note: If they could vote, this is how they would vote:

English, Female, about 35
Obama easily, she hates Hillary Clinton. Not to mention an avid Unionist.

Maths, Male, about 51
I would assume he would vote for McCain, he does have a bit of a Southern American accent, even though he seems he come from one of the Baltic states.

Adavance Algebra, Male, about 50
Probably McCain, he dosen't seem to have a liberal bone in his body.

Media, Male, about 45
Well he got pissed off at the Bracks Government, one can only assume he did as well at the Rudd Government. Comes from the rich suburbs of Camberwell, so he would vote for McCain.

International Legal Systems, Male, about 43
Told me once he would never vote for the mainstream political parties, so one can only assume he would vote for Ralph Nader or somebody similar in America.

American History, Male, about 50
Probably Obama.

Science, Female, about 40
She gets excited over anything my science teacher and Mr. Flynn would assume she would get excited over Obama's oral skills too. So Obama.

Physical Education, Female, about 30
No idea, so I guess Obama.

So if the US Presidential Election was held amongst my teachers, the results would be:

Sen. Barack Obama (D): 4 votes, 50% of the PV
Sen. John McCain (R): 3 votes, 37.5% of the PV
Mr. Ralph 'wit' Nader (I): 1 vote, 12.5% of the PV

I have teachers this year that do a great job of masking their political views, but most can be determined and most are Dems

I dont think I've ever had a teacher who would vote Republican in my life. One of my teachers in high school was rumoured to have voted for Mike Harris, (in 1995, not 1999!), so he's a possibility.

Republicans tend not to go into teaching as they're not usually good with people or interested in information for information's sake. They're more accountant and banker types.

Of the 30 or 35 teachers at my school, I'd say 9 of them are republicans
all three social studies teachers-all male, in their late 30's to 40's
3 of the 4 math teachers-all female and married with kids under 18 (29, 38, and 40 maybe)
both art teachers-both male, one in his twenties, one around 50
and the home ec teacher/gifted advisor-female, later forties, married with kids in college.

English Teacher, Male in his 20s: Has told us numerous times he doesn't vote. Makes fun of Obama, Clinton and McCain on a regular basis.

Science Teacher, Male in his 40s/50s: No idea, though considering he's an environmentalist, probably Obama.

Economics Teacher, Male in his 20s: Not a citizen. He thinks Friedman is a God though, so make of that what you will.

Math Teacher, Female in her 30s: She hinted to us once or twice that she was alone in her group of friends in voting for Gore in 2000. So, Obama probably.

Art Teacher, Female in her 20s: I have no idea if she votes, but I'd guess she votes Dem.

Government Teacher, Male in his 40s: He's a strong Republican with some libertarian and populist leanings. He supports McCain strongly and hates Obama.

History Teacher, Female in her 30s: I'd think Obama, considering she's an Ivy-educated female. On the other hand, I have a feeling she's something of a small-L libertarian.

Foreign Language Teacher, Female in her 30s: Voted Kerry in 2004, don't see why she wouldn't support Obama.

Public Opinion - man in his late 40's/early 50's - loves Obama and says so often
Civil Liberties - man 34 - loves Obama and says so often
Intro to IR - man around 30 - Obama
Intro to PP - woman late 40's - Obama
Intro to Sociology - doesn't like politics/won't vote
Symphonic Band - presumably McCain since he supported Barbour, but I'm not 100% sure

War in Vietnam: Fairly well known professor and writer, Obama (have spoken with him about it)

18th and 19th Century Novel: Serious feminist, probably voted Clinton in the primary and will probably vote for Obama in the general.

Holocaust: Leftist from Germany, probably Obama.

Survey of Mathematics: Religious woman who loves Fox News, probably voted for Huckabee in the primary and will vote for McCain in the general.

Urban Politics Professor: He’s a Rockefeller Republican from the GOP-bastion of Bettendorf. I’m sure he’ll vote for John McCain, but in the primary he was for Mitt Romney.

Law and Society Professor: He was born in Alberta, and has far more interest in Canadian politics then U.S. He’ll probably vote for Senator Obama, though he is a bit more conservative than most of the Obama supporters I have met.

European History Professor: He is far more interested in French politics then U.S. but his wife is a far-left progressive who supports Senator Obama, so I would guess my professor would vote the way his wife is.

Eastern Religions Professors: A registered member of the Green Party and a Catholic priest, he will vote for whatever candidate promises the most radical left-winged social reform. In 1996 and 200 he voted for Nader and in 2004 he cast his ballot for Cobb. I would guess he’ll vote for McKinney in 2008.

Field Experience for the Teaching Profession Professor: He’s very active in the Illinois Democratic Party, so he’s for Obama. I ram heads with him sometimes, as he is very progressive and I am strongly conservative. Since I am fulfilling my endless hours of classroom experience I dress up all the time. I usually anger my field experience professor by wearing one of my many American flag ties. He’s a good guy, however.

Introduction to the New Testament Professor: A progressive Catholic priest and former Socialist Party Councilman in Iowa City, my professor for this theology course will vote for a worker’s party candidate. Whether this is Socialist, Socialist Workers or Worker’s World Party, it hardly matters.

Microeconomics Professor: A Davenport Alderman and member of the Libertarian Party, he will vote for former Representative Bob Barr in 2008.

He was for Royal in the 2007 election. Most of all, he is anti-National Party and likes to make fun of LePen.

(Sorry for the double post)

What can I say, Lief, I lead an interesting life. Smiley

My university is generally a progressive Catholic organization, complete with Gay and Abortion Rights clubs. There is, however, a growing amount of conseravative students. As an example, I am president of the Young Conservatives. I refuse to be apart of the neo-conservative Young Republicans.
