It would be nice, but it's not necessary. I see the problem with picking the uncommited delegates.

How do they do it IRL?

IRL delegate slates are written up before the vote.

Some people gang up and say they want to stand as delegate candidates, and they aren't committed to any of the presidential contenders. Presumably.

Then I guess that whoever votes Uncommitted has to decide on delegates with the other Uncommitted voters. I don't think it'll matter, though.

Well, if people are free to vote for who they wish in the first round, then I suppose anyone can come in and claim to be an uncommitted delegate.  There would have to be at least two uncommitted votes in a region though.

That'd be fine. I guess.

I'll declare my interest here in seeking the support of Atlasian Progressives and my willingness to compete in the Progressive Primary for June 2008.

Is this for the PLP or the Progressive Caucus?  If the latter, I am willing to participate.

Neither, actually. The Progressive Primary has ties with both (all PLP members are registered here, and most Caucus members are), but it is its own entity, which has already run two presidential primaries.

No, although the PLP Chairman is the organizer.

In any case, since it is not a party primary for a party I am not a member, I am willing to participate as both a voter and a candidate, though to be fair in general, I consider myself more centrist than leftist.

I won't be supporting anyone who has already been a serious candidate for president or vice-president.

Poll results!!!

Our first poll was conducted this week, and has indicated a close race between three frontrunners, Mr. Moderate, Speed of Sound and Al. All three were polling at 26%. The poll was conducted before Al and Ben Constine entered the race, although Al was included in the poll. Ernest was a distant fourth place at 5%. 5% of voters plan on voting uncommitted, and 10% are planning to vote for a different candidate, possibly Ben Constine. 10% of those surveyed were undecided.

Results:
Mr. Moderate: 26%
Speed of Sound: 26%
Al: 26%
Ernest: 5%
Uncommitted: 5%
Other: 10%

Perhaps we should have a debate for all of our primary candidates?
