Hell no. Not in a million years.

I'm surprised Texas actually did it right for once. Arizona and Montana would be well served if they also stamped out those Mormon cults that are infesting their states.

How would you feel if people from CPS took you away from your parents at an early age?

If the parents themselves weren't guilty of any crimes or neglect, yes.

Quite a few of the parents say that they had no idea that any underage marriages happened.  Assuming that turns out to be feasible, and there continue to be no signs of other abuse, they should be returned.

I have a Morman friend who is disgusted by this group and doesn't even consider them Morman. I am completely against sending those kids back. The parents are sadly brainwashed.

Why is the CPS a better parent than the childrens' parents themselves?

...because their parents were going to brainwash them and then marry them off at the age of 14 to middle age men?

No. I've been watching Nancy Grace's coverage of this and those people are weird. Has anyone seen the way the women dress? Now, I don't consider myself shallow hopefully, but I can only imagine what kind of misogynist values those women are passing on to their children. Not to mention the sex abuse, though that might fall under the former issue.

I will say that I love the mormons, it seems to me that they are almost all pleasant people. Its a shame cults like this ruin their image.

If my parents were involved in a cult that was molesting me? It'd be the best thing that ever happened to me.

No.  And the Utah/Arizona governments have been ignoring the FLDS cult for far too long.

So, I suppose that we are to dump the Constitution down the drain, with all that stuff about due process and right to a trial by jury, etc. ?

We can put the parents on trial, and if they're found not guilty, they can get their kids back afterward.  But I can't imagine them being found not guilty when most if not all the girls were sexually abused.

A majority of the girls have been pregnant, and I'm sure there are others who never got pregnant but were still raped.

The parents of the kids which show no sign of sexual activity should have their children returned.  The other children should be placed into new homes.  The compound itself should have child welfare workers on site to check up on the kids from time to time.

No the compound itself needs to be closed.

It's not against the law to live on a compound.

What a terrible thing. Of course they should not get custody back! They were impregnating 16 year old girls! These Mormons! Mitt Romney needs to stop them.

Funny how liberals and conservatives alike are taking the only sane option here.

Yet again, libertarians prove to be the most insane.

I didn't know it was insane to think that taking innocent children away from their parents in favor of state-custody was wrong.

Yes innocent children. Exactly why they shouldn't be forced to stay in a cult that sexually abuses them.

So, you're advocating secession from the government? Wink
