Obama will have been president, and perhaps a white woman.  None of the others.

JQA was elected as an Independent, or at least without partisan affiliation, which I think counts as third party. Obama will be President, and some white woman will have a good shot at being elected at some point before 2038 as well. Definitely none of the others.

You could just about argue that Lincoln was elected as a third party candidate.

Certainly the first two will be elected within the current era. I would be inclined to believe after that it would be a gay man,  Who knows though. I forgot to put Atheist on the list. However, i think that would be a pretty lopsided tally.

There is no way a gay man will win the Presidency in the next 100 years.  At least not one that's "out".  We'd elect a lady Ethiopian Jew first.

All except a white woman, possibly, when Hillary gets the 2012 nomination, she'll win in a landslide.

I'm confident that all but a white woman won't, and even a white woman may not get it.  Another one may not run for a while.

Considering that until about 30 years ago Gay Sex was illegal and now we're talking about Gay Marriage I'm a bit more optimistic. I think there's a decent chance gay or bi people will be electable within 25-50 years. I suspect someone will get outed before that though.

Only straight white protestant right-wing men will be allowed near the presidency during our lifetimes.

I think that may be a tad bit presumptive. If i were to sit here in 1978 and tell you that 30 years from now a woman and a black man would be running a very close race for the presidency, you would say the same thing.

All of them. A black man and a white woman should have a chance, the others won't come close.

Yes, it is still perfectly socially acceptable to hate gays, blacks, and women, contrary to what right-wingers would have us believe with their moaning about 'political correctness'.

There are tons of strong young women in the ranks....Sarah Palin,Stephanie Sandlin .....

Though, (now even more mainstream pundits are thinking about it) if the dems blow it this year, they may be replaced by another party...maybe a 3rd party will be elected.

Does Bobby Jindal count as black?  Otherwise I do not see any of them happening except possibly the Mormon

What about John F. Kennedy?  A straight white Catholic man?  For that matter, Kerry got pretty damn close in 2004, and he was also a Catholic.

"socially acceptable" doesn't mean what you think it means.
