Wah!!! Why didn't I see this earlier?

Oh well, I'll just watch events unfold, and put in a request to be in the next game.

If people want to start up a concurrent game using one of the variants, I would be up for it.

I'm up for running a second game, using a bidding variant.  Game starts the same as usual except that instead of random order of who gets what country, players bid for the right to pick a country first.  Bids and list of preferred countries sent in secret.  And what will players bid with?  Number of builds you will forego.  If you bid 5 builds then in if in Winter 1901 you could normally build 3 units, then you don't get to build any and you will still have two more builds to forego in the future.  Supposing you manage to hold onto 6 supply centers in Winter 1902 and could normally build 3 units, you get to build 1 unit in in Winter 1902 and would be able to fully build in any future Winter.

I'd be interested in this variant: http://www.diplom.org/Online/variants/crystalball.html

That actually sounds like it could be really interesting.

I realise this is old, but I was trawling through the old forum topics because I was going to bring this up if there wasn't one out there.

I'm happy to GM a postal game through here if there's interest. If anyone's interested, I'll start a new thread. Perhaps play one season per week, people can PM their orders to me, and I'll post official results in the thread. Anyone can PM diplomacy with other players, or put out media releases in the thread. Anyone interested?

I'm in.

And I think the countries should be distributed randomly, btw, since which power you are has an effect in this game.

I recently found a nice online Diplomacy adjucation system...might be easier to run and play.

Xahar/Happy Warrior - I'll adjudicate and not play, so as to not accidentally open up a PM of someone's orders too early.

That makes the list Xahar, Ben, Gustaf, Lewis, Erc, Mikado, Happy Warrior to make up the seven.

I have Realpolitik on my laptop at home, but I'll check out that link when I get home, Erc.

Gustaf - I entirely agree about random allocation of countries.

I shall randomly draw names against the seven nations and post in a new thread shortly and PM you each to confirm. I will also post this set of administrative guidelines in the new thread.

I will do the adjudication on Sundays (my time) so that wherever you are in the world, so long as you send your orders to me by midnight on a Friday evening, I will receive them in time.  Each season can be one week in length, so I'll adjudicate every weekend.

The thread will be used to post orders/maps each week, and also any comments anyone wants to make publicly. Orders can be PM'd to me. In the event that I receive more than one set of orders in the week from the one player, I will use the last set sent. If no orders are received, all units belonging to that nation will stand to (no move/no support/no convoy). If there are two sets of orders and latest set only provides orders for some units (but not all), the units not given orders in the latest set will stand to, even if the earlier set provided orders for them, as it will be assumed that you now want that unit to not carry out the earlier provided orders.

I think that's all pretty self-explanatory and nothing out of the ordinary, but I'm just laying that out to ensure it's clear.
