no opinion, really.

ive read that he was quite angry that dan quayle was chosen as veep in 1988.  thompson thought the nod should have gone to him.

I thought he was interesting more than anything.  I lived in Illinois under his Governorship and I remember people -- especially Republicans -- calling him Jim "Tax" Thompson.  But the same folks kept saying the federal government needs to cut taxes.  And the local government needs to cut taxes.  So, if the state also cut taxes -- I gathered that their real position was anarchy.  If they believed that we are supposed to promote the general welfare and all that, I could never understand how they thought it should get paid for.

I suppose that's when I started ever so slowing inching my way out of Reagan Republicanism. 

And here I are!  Kommissar of the Peoples' Revolutionary Party!  LOL
