I do talk quite a lot about French politics to a friend in my Civics class. He knows all about Bling-bling, Jean Tiberi, and a few others. I also mentioned Montebourg to him.

Yes, many people have, and do, find it both strange and weird. This includes classmates; housemates; teachers; fellow political science students; politicians...etc., etc.

Yes, of course. Few people don't.

There are much, much weirder things I'm interested in and plus given that I don't actually talk much about politics in RL the answer is no.

Eh, sorta.  More amused.  Having an encyclopedic knowledge of Washington state election results by town is a fun way to show off to other nerds.

I keep my politics life separated from my social life, though.

Not really, but I avoid talking about politics casually unless I can tell the other person won't be an ass. However, my interest in politics, while large, is not obsessive and detailed like many of you, so I don't come across as being a total loon. Yes, you're all crazy.

Actually, no, a very intricate knowledge of politics doesn't strike me as strange. It's at least relevant, moreso than an unhealthy obsession with worthless sports statistics and whatnot.

I'm sure everyone thinks my interest in politics is weird; people tend to find me weird anyways.

My friends think it's insane that I can name all 100 Senators, but they've gotten used to it by now.

I used to be able to say them all in alphabetical order fast. I didn't get out too often...

Did you tell her how many people voted for you?

I don't believe so, no.

I don't mean to disparage anybody who voted for me, and I'm still grateful to all of them, but I realize now that I could have used that time far more productively elsewhere.

Like running online RISK® games?

Now that she doesn't know about.

Afraid she'd call off the wedding? Wink

Did either of you cringe or throw up or wash your mouth with soap every time you had to mention Jim Inhofe or Tom Coburn?

It was once given to me as an excuse for why someone "couldn't" date me.  She said I was political and she wasn't... I tried to explain that I can turn it off, it's not like politics are my life, I have 1,000 interests.  But then I was forgetting Golden Rule #5... never try to explain yourself to a woman, it will just convince her she it right and you are trying to cover-up for it.

Well I don't really talk about it much, but when other people bring up politics or say something stupid I either get heavily involved or pissed off. Once one of my friends said Obama was a Muslim and I yelled at him for being a dumbass.(This was before the Wright scandal)
Now I realise that doesn't work.

Name all 100 Senators? Why? I know most of them, but knowing all the British PMs since Chamberlain, all the Australian PMs since Whitlam, and all the German Chancellors from Cuno to Krosigk and Presidents from Ebert to Heuss is so much more interesting.

Exactly twenty-five hours ago, online:

Erik: I still think it's very strange that you talk about other states officials, but cool
