1956. I remember asking my parents why Eisenhower was smiling when he knew he would win. I was pushing 6 years of age at that point. 1960 was the first real one I remember. Kennedy was the Great Satan. When he won, my atheist WASP parents and I were in mourning. The end was near.

1992; for some reason, I LOVED George H.W. Bush. Supposedly, I cried when Clinton was inaugurated in 1993. My response to that news, "where Bush?"

1996.  My grandma didn't vote for Dole, she said because he was mean and yelled at a lady.  Now, I understand it's because she has never voted for a Republican other than for my grandpa when he ran for school board.

That's a good excuse. Tongue

Wait; school board elections in Michigan are partisan?

1984.  I don't remember much about the night itself, but I distinctly remember carrying a sign to school the next day proclaiming "I VOTED FOR REAGAN.  DID YOU?"  Some kid at the bus stop corrected me, saying that I was quite a few years away from voting legally.

I vaguely remember the '64 election, and definitely recall the '68 race.

Explain the concept of an atheist WASP to me.

I can remember going to the polls to watch my mother "boat."  I can vaguely remember LBJ.  I can remember coming down stairs and asking my parents who won and the said Nixon did, in 1968.  I can remember watch election results with my father in 1972.

No, but pretty much everybody else in Taylor was a Democrat (and corrupt), other than my grandpa.  40 years later, and it's still the same

2000. I remember CNN saying that Wisconsin was "too close to call" at one point on TV.

1998 General Election - Howard (LIB) vs. Beazley (ALP)

I remember during the campaign I LOVED Kim Beazley, hell I even pretended to "host" my own television show Cooking with Kim Beazley, with me playing Kim Beazley. Ah the good times.

1984 very vaguely. Didn't really know much of what was going on at age 5 other than my dad hating Reagan, though I do remember him letting me stay up late to watch the debates.

1986 midterms and 1988 Presidential were the first ones I really followed.

I don't have any significant recollection of any elections prior to 1997.

1996- I remember hearing about Dole and wondering why everyone wanted some guy who grew bananas to be president.

I remember 1996 vaguely, and 2000 somewhat. I do remember the networks calling Florida for Gore Smiley

The first election I really closely followed was 2004 (primaries and GE)-

Oh, c'mon now, you and MODU remember the Lincoln-Douglas debates clearly.  Wink

United States: I remember 2004 quite clearly. On election day, we asked our American science teacher who he supported. He said Kerry but not with much enthusiasm. Probably a Bush supporter that didn't want to get the Arab majority pissed off at him. I watched some results from 2004 early in the morning too. Obviously I remember 2006, but I didn't follow it much.

France: I remember on April 22, 2002, my dad told me Jospin had lost the first round and Le Pen was in the runoff. I recognized the name Jospin a little IIRC, but I didn't care much. No recollection of the June 2002 general election. Also the regionals in 2004 when my dad told me the UMP had won only in Alsace and Corse. Of course, in 2007 I went to the French embassy on both rounds with my parents and stayed up watching the results on both rounds, as well as both rounds of the GE.

Canada: I remember 2000 a teeny, teeny bit; mostly the CA and Day. I was in Laval for the 2004 election, and my aunt brought me to the polling station and I watched some results (like the Liberals landsliding PEI and boring Newfie results). I followed 2006 very closely and spent the entire Health class that day on the school's laptop getting the results. The teacher confiscated the laptop, obviously.

1991 municipal election, vaguely (election sign for Jacqueline Holzman); I was five. The 1993 federal election was HUGE, and I remember it very well. The Grade sixers in my school had a mock debate.
The first US election I remember was 1996, and very vaguely. I remember the Simpsons Halloween episode.

1988 General Election with George Herbert Walker Bush destroying Michael Dukakis for the 41st President of the United States.

I was only 6 years old, but that sparked my love for politics.
