John McCain wins the nomination unamiously at the RNC. After Huckabee comes out and says that he would like to have the second spot, McCain chooses him. McCain chooses him because he is a conservative and a southerner and he is the only person that he talked to who said that he wanted the vp slot without McCain even talking to him.

On the democratic side, the thing goes to the convention. Obama wins after a floor fight on the first ballot at the convention. To try unite the party, Clinton accepts the vice presidential slot. Michigan and Florida are not counted due to Obama not agreeing for their votes to be counted at the convention.

Discuss with maps.

McCain/Huckabee: 271 electoral votes
Obama/Clinton: 267 electoral votes

Pennsylvania, Virgnia, West Virgnia, Ohio, Oregon, Missouri, Michigan, and Iowa are the important states in this election.

Pennsylvania and Iowa fall first to the democrats while Missouri goes republican early on. Oregon and Ohio follow in the democratic column. It comes down to Micigan. McCain wins by only 500 votes out of 3.2 million cast in that state.

The democrats win the popular vote however:

Obama/Clinton: 49.60%
McCain/Clinton: 49.40%

I just don't think putting Clinton on the bottom of the ticket will make that big of a difference. It really never has in the past. It would still be close, but right now I feel Obama has the advantage.
