REM are mainstream democrats. I don't think they've ever done anything extremely liberal. Rage, on the other hand, protested the DNC and advocate the violent overthrow of the US Government. But they're just too good for me to hold it against them.

I think REM has some pretty left-wing views, their just more civilized people.  I mean the standing naked on stage thing with Rage was just ridiculous, and some of the people they support are truly enemies of America
