That's another thing I liked about him. This freedom has survived right up to the present day in Westphalia.

HP. Good when it was convenient, would have eliminated all of those niceties once he was secure. If we took his reign without looking at the likely continuation had things not started to fall apart in late 1812, he'd be a FF.

The freedoms afforded to the Jews under the Rhenish Confederation were never fully rolled back, as they were elsewhere in the post-Bismarckian era.

Not a FF (His attempts to reform a new Aristocracy for one thing, oh and the whole conquering Europe thing aswell). However was better than either Metternich or Alexander and did lead the way to the spread of liberalism across Europe. So not a complete HP either.

well you just wrote that napoleon has an impact on the jews in the rhineland until now. sadly this impact was quite harshly interrupted by the nazis.

that's all.

napoleon is no horrible person, but of course no freedom fighter too.

I don't get him.

He reformed France so that it could function (under the circumstances) as a republic, without need of hereditary parasites called "parlamentaires" He also preserves a place for Christianity in the new France as well.

Then, he marches across Europe, only to marry off his relatives to foreign hereditary parasites. And sets up a fascist economic regime called the continental system.

If he stayed in France, I'd be favorably disposed to him. But since he didn't ...
