After Hillary drops out in June, Obama is nominated unanimously at the convention, selecting Governor Easley of North Carolina as his running mate.  John McCain selects Governor Jindal of Louisiana as his running mate, and the election begins.

However, through September and October, things go downhill.  Violence sours in Iraq, and we hit a major recession by the middle of October.  On election day, Obama is elected in a massvie landslide, while picking up 40 House seats and Senate seats in ME, NH, VA, NC, KY, TX, MN, OR, and AK.

After being sworn in, though, Obama is unable to solve all the problems.  Although he helps prevent further downturns in the economy, the recession is still fairly severe.  He decides not to remove troops from Iraq, saying they are needed to prevent further escalation in violence.  In the 2010 elections, the Democrats lose 47 House seats, and Senate seats in IN, CO, OR, and the seat of Majority Leader Reid.

Despite the problems, Obama is unchallenged for the nomination.  On the GOP side, 2008 VP nominee Jindal defeats Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee for the nomination.  He selects Mike Crapo as his Vice President.

Discuss with maps.

I, like you do, see Obama as a very weak leader if elected

We will wipe Obama out in '12 if he wins this election:

Jindal is articulate, and has appeal across the board.  Unless Obama can magically keep us out of a recession with major tax increases, election '12 is in the bag for us.

Obama loses Massachussetts to Bobby Jindal? Come on DWTL, even in a Jindal landslide, which is highly unlikely, especially in the forseable future, well I think so anyway, Jindal wouldn't win Massachuessetts. Are those McCain leading polls getting to your head? Tongue.

One I don't think Obama would do bad at this and two, Jindal wouldn't win the republican nom. So therefore this wouldn't happen.

It isn't the McCain polls at all, I just think that Obama is not a good candidate for the state, it is a closet racist state.  However, the closet racists are on the left so it does not really effect Jindal

No Democrat will lose Massachusetts, Connecticut, or Minnesota in the near future.

Absolutely! It is unthinkable that Obama is an ineffective leader!

Jindal does have a chance to win the GOP nomination. He is certainly conservative enough to make it through, unless you are suggesting a minority would never make it through, which is incredibly offensive of you to say.

Indian is too close to Arab for a lot of people. Hate to say it, but it's true. Maybe in 20 years things will be different.

How many "obama is a secret radical muslim!" "Obama is an Arab!" and "Obama speaks Arabic!" scare e-mails and web forum postings have you seen? Jindal would be vulnerable to the same type of tactics.

Honestly, I don't think race will be much of an issue. Sure, there are those few backwoods rednecks who won't ever vote for anyone but a white man, but since most of them are Republican anyway, they would vote for Jindal because they agree with him ideologically, wheras Obama they don't.

As far as race goes, if Obama gets elected this year, it will change the issue of race entirely, making it easier for a minority to get elected. So race wouldn't be the issue. It's ideology.

Look at the Maryland senate race in 2006. Steel only got 20% of the black vote, and he was black! Except for the regular 90/10 split among blacks, only a few more crossed party lines because of the race issue.

They have to step down sometime, and if they do Arnold would have a good shot, especially in this scenario
