In another thread, South Park Conservative has suggested that all taxation be eliminated.  When asked how we would fund things like our military and law enforcement, he said it would be easy -- donations.  Seriously.  We could have telethons and corporate sponsors.  What private citizen wouldn't want to open up his check book and underwrite a jeep or an aircraft carrier?

Okay -- I've only been here since 2006.  And I haven't come close to reading or experiencing everything on the Forum.  But...

Is this not the absolute dumbest, most asinine, ridiculous, brainless, impossible and retarded idea ever put forth in this venue?

Please -- educate me.  What ideas have been advanced here that were more vacuous?

The idea that Asian-Americans voted Democratic out of fear of internment was one. Don't remember who proposed it, unfortunately.

Option 2.  It might be Option 1, but I might be leaving out some really priceless Migrendel or Senator Mike Naso idea.

Well, if the government's not going to be funding the military, at least it can build some more lakes in the Mideast.

I think it's pretty dumb, but I think opebo's idea that society will function well if we give people who don't want to work (not unable - people who just don't want to regardless of ability) a generous dole so they can live comfortably is worse.

It's up there, but J. J.'s idea that Hillary was winning the black vote during the actual campaign once voting started and that a speech in November of 2007 proves this was the case after voting started despite the other evidence beats it.

I dunno.  But I'd be willing to volunteer to man the phone banks during the telethon.  I'd love to hear why people are donating and how much.

This reminds me of the old bumper sticker about having a bake sale to buy bombers, rather than help public schools. Maybe they were more prophetic than we knew.
