Beethoven, Piano Sonata No. 14. But specifically, the famous first movement.

It's one of the few pieces of classical music I enjoy.

I thought a man with your intelligence would choose not to pick such a hackneyed piece.  Ugh.  Smiley

A friend of mine likes to play it on her keyboard.  It's good, but I prefer pieces with a bit more life.  Hell, Beethoven's "Fur Elise" (I can't get the umlaut) is excellent and isn't nearly so morbid.  If I want to be depressed with classical music I go back to J. S. Bach's "Air."

Be thankful that it wasn't Pachelbel's Canon in D

i'm a fan of Fantasie Impromptu by Chopin That is one hell of a piece. I tried to play it for a month, but gave up after getting about 7 lines down.

I learned to play this piece a few years ago. I ended up getting a permanent hand injury right around the same time...must have over practiced.

Good.  According to iTunes, the following Beethoven pieces are among my very favorite (5 stars):

Symphony No. 1 in C Major, Op. 21: II. Andante Cantabile Con Moto
Symphony No. 5 in C Minor: II. Andante con moto
Symphony No. 6 in F Major "Pastoral": I. Awakening of Cheerful Feelings Upon Arrival in the Country, Allegro Ma Non Troppo
Symphony No. 8 in F Major, Op. 93: II. Allegretto scherzando

I love classical music, especially from the Romantic period.
