I think it's mostly an act. He is sort of hit and miss. He has his moments.

I think he is most definitely a very reactive conservative, but that his views as expressed on the forum are very sarcastic.

Well I do think he's probably an actual Republican but one who pushes views to the absolute extreme for amusement purposes. Basically the same thing Straha did for his special brand of libertarianism.

I don't like polls like this. They are too personal, and maybe hurtful to an individual, who does not enjoy the pugilism (and some do, and more power to them). They make me feel uncomfortable. Heck I might be next!

On a more serious note, this cold hearted right of center near atheist, prefers trying to lift posters up, engage them, try to find the better angels of their nature, and all of that. I know it sounds saccharin, and horror or horrors, no pain, all gain, mushy unaccountable liberal bullsh**t, but hey, I think it is more an age thing. The older I get, the more I treasure each and every one, to the extent I can, for who they are, as they are, as one finds them.  I know it not might make much sense; it's just the way I am wired or something.  But what I do know, is that except for the most extreme sociopaths, most can be reached, and something productive happens. It just does!

He's more moderate than some republicans(who aren't fakeposting) on other boards I've been on so I lean towards serious.

That and I have encountered real people on other sites with equally extreme (or worse) views. I think Atlas just underestimates people's ability to actually believe this stuff because the site is so liberal.

He's basically the opposite of opebo, his overall position ideologically is correct, but his actual posts are a complete exaggeration. Nowhere near as funny as opebo obviously.

Anyone whose politics have any right-leaning tendencies on this forum is labeled a joke.  Vander Blubb is certainly extreme, but nowhere near as extreme as some of the leftists on this forum.

Exactly. The things he says is nothing more extreme than what a lot of us southerners joke about when we are discussing politics at parties or dinners. He just says things that are so foreign to the liberals on this site, that he seems unbelievable.

Believe me, if I said all that I wanted to say, I'd be right up there with VB. Sometimes I do let loose just to offend some of the posters and get hammered in the process.

That's obvious, but you'll never find a leftist that considers themselves extreme. We have people who believe all 50 states are in play for Obama in this election that will never be called hacks or extremists on this forum, but would be laughed at in the public square if there were anywhere but maybe San Francisco. It's inconceivable to them that they are in any way bias. In fact, most of these liberals have never said a single positive thing about the Republicans, yet they have never been called hacks or extremists, yet if you are a Republican on this forum, you MUST MUST MUST agree with the other side on some issues or at least acknowledge they are right in some areas in order not to be shunned and called a "joke."
