I think these people need real problems if this is all they have to complain about.

oh yes, gambling is evil.

Along with homosexuality, gambling is far more dangerous that terrorism, too.

My Senior Prom was ON a casino boat (the original Alton Belle) but the theme was "Wonderful Tonight" (an Eric Clapton song for the young)

(Eric Clapton is a great guitarist from the UK.  He was in Cream and the Yardbirds.  For the really young and/or ignorant)

I'm personally neutral on this.  I think its pretty harmless, and its just card games, but also it COULD (key word) be teaching our children that gambling is okay.

I can see both sides very easily.  In my opinion, its just more proof of what a great state I live in!!!

What's wrong with gambling?  It's a tax on the stupid, if there wasn't a tax on the stupid, the rest of us would have to pay more taxes.  I want much much more gambling.  Every gas station should have a slot machine or 10.

I hope you're kidding?  Gambling just like Drinking and all kinds of drugs destroys families by taking food OFF the table.  Nobody can deny that.

Why is it the state's business to try enforcing morality as opposed to keeping the public order(cracking down on crimes like mugging/robbing)?

Hah, same. I think it was Hollywood/Red-Carpet or something, though I didn't see anything vaguely Hollywood-ish about the entire thing.

My prom theme was also a casino.  I am about as far from a gambler as you can imagine, and I had no problem with it.

I still don't understand why Oklahoma gets so much attention on the Atlas. Yeah, it's a zany state, but there are others out there.

Like I said, I'm neutral on it.  I don't see a problem with it, but I see why some people do see a problem with it.

JohnnyLongtorso asked what we do for fun.  We either go down and watch the Texas Rangers, or we watch their AAA farm club Oklahoma Redhawks.  Sometimes, we go to our Arena Football team, Oklahoma City Yard Dawgs.  The Central Hockey League and the Oklahoma City Blazers are a big hit with a huge turnpike rivalry with the Tulsa Ice Oilers.  We have a mid-size amusement park called Frontier City (who used to own Six Flags) and a mid-size water park, White Water Bay.  Not to mention, we have two of the biggest college football rivalries in the country (Oklahoma Sooners vs. Oklahoma State Cowboys (BEDLAM)) and Oklahoma Sooners vs. Texas Shorthorns.  Plus, we'll be getting an NBA team this fall so that will only add to the fun.  There is also "Bricktown", which is a beautiful scenic section on the east side of Downtown OKC which has a lot of very fine, authentic restaurants and very good shopping.  It does have a pretty good night scene and also hosts a huge New Year's Eve celebration called "Opening Night".  There is a boat ride people can take down the Oklahoma river, sorta similar to San Antonio's Riverwalk.

For museum and natural history enthusiasts, just about 60 miles west of Oklahoma City in Blaine County near Watonga is Roman Nose State Park with one of the only red rock habitats in the entire world.  In far northwest Oklahoma near Freedom, Oklahoma (west of Alva and NNE of Woodward), there is a huge bat cave "Alabaster Caverns".  Also, in Waynoka (SW of Alva) there is Little Sahara State Park which has a lot of sand dunes where ATV's can go riding.

In Davis and nearby Sulphur (75 miles south of OKC) there is Arbuckle Wilderness which is a kid-friendly and kid-oriented animal exhibit in the oldest mountain range in the world (The Arbuckle Mountains).  Sulphur has a very nice natural spring swimming and camping area.  (Water is extremely cold).

There's a whole lot more to Oklahoma City and the State of Oklahoma than meets the eye and I've only scratched the surface of stuff to do in the Sooner State).

The interesting thing is that there is essentially no difference of opinion between the parties or any of the races. Anyway, Oklahoma is just weird to me.

There are a lot of conservative Dems in OK. Then again, there wasn't a huge difference between liberals and conservatives.

Anyhow, I've had similar experiences and think it's a fun way to enjoy the excitement without the financial risk.

Because people think its weird that people actually live here, and plus I never let this forum forget about Oklahoma.
