What a stupid piece of legislation.  Besides, it wouldn't prevent war around here...

I cannot support this bill. War is a complicated business.

It is the opinion of the Attorney General that this bill would violate the Constitution.

Article VI, Section 2 states:
Quote

By subjecting a private citizen (the Presidential offspring) to a different Law to others, where he has absolutely no control over his status as being subject to that Law, completely offends equal protection.

I encourage the defeat of this bill.

This is quite possibly one of the stupidest things to come before this chamber since the days of Mr. Naso.

What a stupid piece of legislation.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The Senator agrees. May I ask Senator King, what was the purpose behind this piece of legislation?

Should this pass, I hereby declare my intent to
(1) Declare war on China.
(2) Legally adopt Xahar.

I encourage the Senate to pass this legislation so I can re-register, run for President, and have my forum son CultureKing enlist.

In all seriousness, this should've been introduced as a resolution that "recommends service" than an actual bill.

Are you sure you want to subject the Chinese to such total defeat?

Ohhhh... taking it to the house.

Honestly, I have never found a piece of legislation I oppose more.  This is just ridiculous on many levels.  First, its a form of forced, and thus, unconstitutional servitude.  Second, no one should be forced to pay for the actions of their parents... am kinda sad I felt the need to state why I oppose this.

hey, it was just an idea. It seems to me that if you have a large personal interest in the decision to go to war a president would be much more cautious in doing so, also it would set a precedent for the country.

Remember it was just an idea, no need to flip out, simply vote it down and leave it if you oppose it.

I think the whole bill moves on a number of false assumptions, not least of which, that a President has no "large personal interest" in going to war if they don't have a loved one being thrown into the fight.

And even if your theory is correct, it places an undue burden on a President with children of military age that a President without such a circumstance would not face... again, assuming your theory is correct that President's who have no children at the front don't suffer personal burden's from sending Atlasian men and women into a scenario in which they might die.

This is a horrible piece of legislation.  I highly doubt that, just because they don't have any family going to war, a President would be any more inclined to go to war.

The wording as also kind of questionable.  What if a country was threatening to begin an all out assault on Atlasia and we had the ability to take them out with a strategic bombing raid?  The President, assuming he's a caring father, would have to wait for them to attack the homelands before we can act.

seeing as there is not chance that this will move on I would like to withdraw this legislation in order to keep things moving.
