Jon King wasn't at his touchscreen last night (so they had someone else) and he produced the following maps. I'd like the forum's views as to whether they agree with his opinion

Obama without Clinton on ticket

Dem 270 GOP 268

Obama with Clinton on ticket

Dem 316 GOP 222

Obama wins Georgia but McCain wins Minnesota? Um, yeah, ok......

Otherwise not too horrible, but Obama winning Virginia whilst losing Pennsylvania is also extremely unlikely.

Minnesota voting for McCain is completely ridiculous and the fact that the stupid map guy on CNN even mentioned Pawlenty made his "prediction" all the more ridiculous.  Georgia going for Obama is just as laughable at this point.  There is really nothing out there to indicate Georgia is going to flip.

Also, since the Pennsylvania primary ended we've had 5 polls from 4 different pollsters showing Obama ahead so to say at this point he couldn't win there without Clinton's "help" is equally ill-informed.  Basically I thought the guy was an idiot.

Yes they did. Whilst that man kept on touching his map, I just sat back laughing continously. One would assume he got a Political Science degree from Brown University!

CNN really needs to Blitzerize their political team before Election Day. Imagine their predictions based on Exit polls. We predict that with more than 80% of the Black vote going to Obama in Alabama, with Hillary on the ticket that Obama will win Alabama. Hehe.

They are probably surrounded by Georgian Obamamaniacs in the Atlanta Metro and have a misconception that Georgia will go for him. Minnesota is just assumed because CNN thinks that the convention and Pawlenty will give Minnesota to McCain.

If you Search for "Georgia swing state" you get the following titles on the first page:
Swing State Project:: Obama is Serious About Expanding the Map
Georgia is now a swing state
Georgia a swing state? Could be.
Is Georgia Now a Swing State? -- Political Wire
Will Bobb Barr turn Georgia into a swing state in November?
Georgia is a Swing State
Georgia Now A Swing State

And if you do a news search:
Evening Polls: Obama Gambling on Georgia
Can Georgia Be Obama's Ohio?  (Time)
McCain and Obama tied in Georgia

Props to the Obama team on this coup of logic.

The odds of Obama winning Virginia, Georgia and Iowa without carrying Minnesota and Pennsylvania are astronomically low. He's far more likely to win Minnesota then Wisconsin or Iowa. He's far more likely to win Ohio and Pennsylvania then Virginia.
