'Social liberal' does not exist.

strictly true, but beyond that you can answer the question based on an assumed newspeak definition of 'social liberal.'  Read it as, which of the states, that Bush won, or likely will win this time, is the most likely to vote NO on an amendment to its constitution to ban gay marriage, or something like that.  That's probably the subtext here, anyway.

I vote for Nevada as well.

I'm pretty sure Nevada has already voted for one. Maybe I'm wrong on that one.

I know they voted recently against allowing for the use of 'medical marijuana.'  too bad.  and too bad about the gay thing too.  still, it's a fine place to hang out and waste a few thousand dollars.

Florida is not very socially liberal. If you say it is then why did we pass the Parental Notification Amendment with almost 70% of the vote? The only thing liberal we've done recently is raise the minimum wage to 6.15 with forced increases every year. A terrible idea that was but I will laugh when it starts punishing the people that voted for it.

Florida is very socially liberal; the voters just don't know that. Wink

Now, for the 2004 election, I'd say Iowa is the most socially liberal state.

For 2000. how about Mississippi, or maybe South Carolina. ;-)

Nevada. If the GOP runs Frist, Santorum, or any other very socially conservative candidate, Nevada won't even be a contest.

The Parential Notification Amendment is hardly an extreme position. All but 6 states already have either parental notification or the more strict parential consent laws. Congress is about to potentiall make those remaining states cover parental notification under federal law, with a judicial bypass ability of course. This bill, which allows for a judicial bypass, passed with 65%, which is not all that out of line of national opinion.

Jesus sure as hell doesn't have a grave.  He arose alive on the third day and 50 days later ascended to heaven.

I'm not sure "Jesus sure as hell" is an expression you want to be using, Preston.  Wink

What's the most socially liberal Bush state now?!

Nevada!

Sounds about right. Most socially liberal swing state is Oregon, and the most socially liberal Kerry state is probably Massachusetts.

I think Vermont is more socially liberal.

I think they have a bit more of a social libertarian lean. It is the second most pro-gun state.

True.  Gun control is such an odd issue.  Theoretically, social conservatives should support gun control and vice-versa, but hte issue is opposite than what it should be.
