CQ Politics has changed their race rating on MS-1 from No Clear Favorite to Leans Democrat and the open Senate race between Musgrove and Wicker has been moved from Leans Republican to No Clear Favorite.  Full story here.  Senator Lott sure has created a headache for his party down there.

Wicker is in serious danger of losing. Nobody can deny that at this point.

"Potentially Competitive" at worst. Probably secure Democratic. While the Sen. race still leans Republican, if slightly.

Somewhere along the lines of this.  Although, I can almost predict exactly where all this is going to end up.

I will go ahead and post a response for most of the Republicans on this forum, and some Democrats:

"Wicker is still safe."

As drag queen names go, that one isn't bad.  I didn't know that was your thing.

Haley Barbour deserves at least equal credit, if not more, for this headache.

It's incomplete. You need a good last name to go with it. I'd say Cassandra Lips is a good name but a real drag queen would pick something raunchier for the surname.

Well it depends on what kind of image Harry would be going for.  'Cassandra Versace' might be an idea for an upmarket type act, and perhaps 'Cassandra Fellatio' if he was going to be a little more risqué?

Never that--you need at least the pretense of acceptability with your name. It's all about the punning and the double entendre.

Good. Republicans have taken MS for granted for way too long

You're just being mean.  I'm sure there are lots of reasons for a white guy in Mississippi to be a Liberal-as-they-come Democrat.

Because living in Mississippi means that you surrender independent thinking on health care, the war, tax policy, and the environment, and the only issue that can make you vote Democratic is being gay.

That makes perfect sense from a New England perspective.  But there are still only about a dozen socially Liberal white guys who have lived their whole lives in Mississippi.

Sorry, no state of 3 million people is going to be monolithic in its political allegiance. I've met die-hard conservatives in Cambridge, Mass. I had a neighbor across the street who was a lifelong Republican and gay. 14% of white people in Mississippi voted for Kerry, and they weren't all yellow dogs or gays.

It's kind of funny, you're complaining about people "smearing" Charlie Crist as gay on another thread and then you're trying to justify the same allegation here about a poster here (which is a whole other level of rude behavior, surprised the mods aren't stepping in) and without knowing a thing about him beyond his party and his home state.

Grow up. It's rude, juvenile, and pathetic. Say what you want about elected officials, but you're over the line when you try this crap with individual posters.

Are you new to the Internet or something? Making allegations about a fellow poster in their presence is and always has been different from talking about a public figure. A court of law would say the same.

You just got through saying calling someone gay isn't a smear and you resent any implication it is.

My one regret is that this got to be about anyone here.  However unusual it may be to be a social Liberal in Mississippi, I had never given any actual thought to his personal life and assume nothing about it one way or the other.

Well if social liberals in MS are like any of the social liberals here in KY, they have to congregate in certain areas (particular neighborhoods in Lexington, Louisville and the craphole state capital know as Frankfort).  They usually have hard time dealing with their more conservative neighbors due to their typical arrogance and obnoxious attitudes.  Many have taken to using some claim to moral and intellectual superiority in order to "shame them" into supporting their point of view.

A most recent example would be the current liberal media template the we're a racist state because we don't support Obama and now the "whole world" thanks we are due to this fact.  Such antics of course really only serves to isolate them more from their neighbors.

I can't believe this thread turned into a discussion of my sexual orientation...
