Joe and Mary get married at age 22.  they met each other in college and have a great relationship and consider themselves to be deeply in love.

however, they begin to have a growing hangup.  Mary wants to start a family a few years down the line and have a child or two, but Joe is dead set against the idea.  he wants no children and seemingly nothing can change his mind.  the issue becomes a growing point of contention for the couple and it leads to frequent fights.

still against the idea but finding it impossible to conceive of what life would be like without Mary, Joe thinks of a (perhaps underhanded solution).  he goes to a doctor and gets a vasectomy without telling Mary.  he then approaches her and tells her that he has changed his mind and is now willing to consider the idea of having children.

of course, no children can be had as Joe is now sterile.  he has the couple go to his friend John, a doctor, who lies to Mary and tells the couple that Joe has been sterile, probably, since birth.

is Joe a hero?  victim?  filth?  you decide.

Eh... not much different from a woman secretly taking the pill.

I might add that his plan could very well misfire. When Mary knows she won't, ever, have kids from John, she could conceivably look for a new mate.

The male in this hypothetical defrauded his wife for his own selfish reasons. He is going to join me in hell, sandwiched between me and Josh.

I'm sure most people can empathize with his situation, just not the way he went about solving the problem.

HAHAHAHAHA.  Naifs.

I think Joe should have stood his ground, however.
