There are so many middle eastern cities with similar populations, I decided just to cherry pick the most recognizable ones.

And yes, Istanbul is kick ass enough to be included in TWO polls.

The only one here that I would consider living in is Dubai, which seems like a pretty cool place.

I wouldn't mind establishing indefinite residence in the suite of the Burj al Arab.

Makkah would be nice (aside from the total lack of freedom). I'll report back to you whenever I go there.

Dubai..... why does it suck hashemite?

It's an artificial city in the middle of the desert and their constructions are awful.

They all suck. Dubai is the least-worst of these awful choices, but I didn't vote for it. I honoured my past residence with my vote (for no reason).

No. Certainly not when Istanbul is included in the poll.

I've not been to Dubai, but I have been to Manama, the capital of Bahrain. Old part's nice but not rich. New city around it, rich but not nice. (Also, the old part is inhabited exclusively by Indians and Pakistanis. And a few Filipinos. But no Arabs.)

I was bored to death in Manama. Doha, Muscat are much better.

I discounted Istanbul in this poll since I voted for it in the eastern european poll. I guess I would vote for Istanbul since its rich cultural heritage would push it over the top.

I've always wanted to visit the Middle East--especially Iraq--and since I have a taste for danger, Baghdad most definetely.

Bagdhad, because it's now so very safe.  You can get all kinds of cheap goodies in the city markets, too.

::: ducking :::

Seriously, probably Istanbul.  But I have no desire to live anywhere in this part of the world.

Indeed. Much of it, but not all of it is quite safe, mind you.
