I say Republicans. Democrats are idealistic aboutjustice issues like the death penalty, world peace, and gay marriage. Republicans are idealistic about abortion and the idea that the economy will take care of itself, not to mention their faith that the poor will take care of themselves.

I believe that every person is created in the image of God, and as such, is extremely worthy of such trust. But I'm not for just ignoring the poor.

There is absolutely no dignity or joy without work. The goal of Americans should be to help people help themselves.

Republicans, no contest. Democrats have since time immemorial been the de facto NON-Republican party while having no real ideological roots to fall back on (what is Jackson's legacy anyway?). The entire movement is synonymous to populism.

It's the Optimates vs the Populares all over again.

Did you think the poll meant more ideological? This is on idealism.

The Republican position of "let's extend democracy across the middle east" is much more idealistic than any economic program a Democrat could think of

Republicans. I think the Bush speech reflected that very well.

Democrats want to give people handouts to help them. Republicans want to give people tools to help them help themselves.

Tricky. I'd say that Democrats are more idealistic, while the Republicans are more ideological.
