let's say John Anderson doesn't run as an indie in 1980, and in fact endorses President Carter largely because of Carter's more moderate stand on social issues.  How would this have influenced the election.lection?

The influence from Anderson to Carter isn't very much.  Even in the south, Alabama for example, if all of Anderson's votes went to Carter, he would still lose the state.  In New England, Reagan holds the moderate Republicans in Maine and Vermont. More than likely, most Anderson supporters wouldn't even vote.

Nonetheless, Reagan wins in a landslide.

Reagan: 401 - 54% PV
Carter: 137 - 45% PV

Ben - Why the hell does Florida go to Carter? Reagan won OVER 55% there!

Because he could barely bring himself to say Carter would lose this election

434-104, Reagan. I don't buy Anderson having any influence outside the Northeast.

He did?  Nevermind; I thought it was close.  I'll be changing that.

I am not surprised that Benconstine said that Florida would go to Carter. This is the same person who said that Texas was really close in 1980.
How'd you escape your strategic headquarters for the war against Canada?

people put words in my mouth when I said that. It was not my fault.

Gporter, every gaffe you make is your fault.  Also, will you shut the f**k up about that one comment?  I said it 1 time, and you keep bringing it up.  You have no right to talk.

I have every right in the world to talk. You all talk about things that I have said once over and over again. I can talk as much as I want.

No, we move on to different gaffes.  You, on the other hand, seem to refer to the same things over and over again.

You say just about as many things wrong as I do. I can comment all that I want to and I plan to.

No, I don't even come close.  I've made some errors, but not nearly as many as you have.

Fine, comment, but it'll do you no good.
