No. The theory is absolute bullsh!t. Some people here now seem to be bashing Obama for not buying into it.

No. It is a complete sham. The tax policy's implemented by Reagen left numerous tax loopholes that helped corporate interests (i.e. Enron) make money with less oversight.

"Trickle-down" was never intended to provide relief to the middle and lower class, just to benefit the rich.
In fact, Reagen had to raise taxes on the middle/lower-class to help do this. Of course, they weren't tax raises per say, instead they were called "user fees" and "revenue enhancers"

Of course not. I wasted a month two years ago compiling data to prove how stupid it was. I got an A.

Technologies certainly "trickle down".

I'm not so sure about relative wealth via less taxes paid by the rich.

No, I don't.  I believe in Keynesian policies which offered a longer term, better fix for this country after a much larger crisis that led to the trickle down economics of the 1980s.

Raise taxes for the rich and spend it on rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure.  That'll kickstart the economy really well.

But no, the right will think that tax cuts are better... and who cares, anyway?  We can eek out a couple more years on those corroded bridges anyway, right?  And when it falls into the river, it'll be the "libruls" that were too busy giving money to the lazy welfare queens, right?

I probably could've done that. My friend got an A by spending what seemed like all of five minutes doing weird stuff with the data on Baseball Reference.

But I got a free book on macroeconomics out of it. Smiley

Xahar's high rate of posting indicates ADD so odds are he'll probably not be a member of Atlas for a long time.

Loaded question, but more yes than no. In the end, wealth for the median  is a function of the size of the pie, and that requires rather vigorous supply side policies. The most critical of those is revamping our secondary school system from root to branch.

The whole point of supply side economics is to mask the fact that most peoples' slice of the pie is shrinking by increasing the size of the pie drastically...

And as far as revamping our secondary school system into a technical training period for specific jobs.. bad idea.  Teens need a basic education that focuses in core skills that can be used in almost all job situations.  College is what specialization is for.  Just ask the Germans what they think of their 3-tier system?  It's just working swimmingly, isn't it?

No, it's a total con. It's a 'trojan horse' designed to decrease income taxes on the rich and keep spending up for a few elite interests at the expense of 90% of the country. Dave Stockman had it right.

Wow, I suddenly love trickle down economics just to hurt the turned GOP 'reagan democrat' blue collar voters. JK but seriously that's horrible.

Sorry, but you are wrong on two counts - 1) Keynesianism delivers much stronger overall pie-growth than 'supply-side' polices, and 2) revamping the secondary school system would be closer to a Keynesian policy (government expenditure) than a supply side policy.

It's another creature of political and economic mythology, much like communism was. I vote "No" to this folklore.
