Think about it. If you lived during Prohibition, you'd have to get your booze from SOMEWHERE.

BRTD, how can you support a rich guy who evades his taxes. I thought you would want him to burn on the stake for that.

I'm not going to shed any tears for rival mobsters or police thugs trying to prevent people from exercising their right to drink (especially considering the cops in question were probably drinking themselves anyway).

He filled a needed role and did a good enough job at it to become famous.  Good for him.  It's hard to call him a FF though, he wasn't fighting for freedom, he was fighting for his pocketbook, he just happened to do it on the "right" side.

In a good cause.  Your statesmen murder far more folks than he ever did, and for much more dubious reasons.

All traditional gangsters are freedom fighters by definition because their main activities are based on providing banned products or service, not on killing or even 'theft'.

Al Capone didn't stand up to prohibition.  He took advantage of prohibition for his own well-being.  In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if he supported it just to keep his power strong.

Correct.  If there was no Prohibition, Al would have been just another thug.

But BRTD doesn't care about that. I bet he would love Bush if Prohibition returned and he turned into Capone.

I hold Al Capone in the same light I do drug dealers who murder cops, while their crime shouldn't be a crime, they shouldn't be murdering police.  Except, for the most part we don't glorify that (well some moronic people who enjoy "gansta culture" do) in the same way the mafia is glorified.
