Well, being a new driver in the most expensive state, I make take the cake for this one.  I'd love to see how low some people go though:

To insure me with my 9 year old car and with good student discounts:
$1800 a year

Well what kind of insurance is that?  Just liability?  Full?  What's your deductable?  Car insurance can vary a LOT and I seriously doubt you'll be paying the most by the end of the thread.  There seems to be a lot of moderately wealthy young men* on this forum, I'm guessing somebody's mommy and daddy pays a pretty good amount of money in insurance for him.

As for me, I don't even know off the top of my head, but it ain't much.  Much less than you and I got full coverage on 2 cars, both newer than yours (and RED!!...not that insurance companies actually care about that).

*I'd guess at least 1/3rd of them are full of sh**t.

Somewhere in the vicinity of $400-$500 every six months, so between $800 and $1000 a year.  Of course, I am older (26 years old), and I have a safe driver discount. (I haven't had an accident in 8 years).  My insurance went drastically down on my 25th birthday.

About $550 a year.  I also drive less than 3,500 miles a year.

For two vehicles, I am paying about $110 a month.

What was funny was when I lived in Massachusetts and payed just for one truck, it was $1,800 a year but when I moved to Colorado and got a second vehicle, my insurance out there was CHEAPER for two vehicles compaired to one in Massachusetts!

If I owned a car insurance company I would give discounts for voting Democratic in elections.

I assume this is because they would taxed higher and need more money?

Stick to the question.

BTW: Change your name to "Harry the Hack" or "Harry the Idiot" since you act like both.

Its actually my car that kills it and makes it $1800, if I was just driving one of my parents, it would be $450

Comp and Collision, 500 ded, all the extras, about $700 for 6 months.  Of course, the rates in downstate NY are a bit higher than most of the country.

Nah, just because I believe insurance companies are evil and would like to do things that make people mad, distrust private insurance, and demand government-run insurance.

My car is a piece of junk (it's a '99 Pontiac Grand Prix with a not-so-good tranny), so I just have liability with a $500 deductible and I pay $175 every 6 months..

Well, Progressive Insurance did give all its workers the day off on Election Day 2004. Progressive's founder, Peter Lewis, is a liberal billionaire friend of Soros.

my last policy was about $1300 a year for full coverage...collision, comprehensive..etc.  my driving record is clear...not even a ticket.

hopefully when i renew i can get a lower rate...since massachusetts just opened up for insurance competition.

I have a 2005 Honda Civic, with a $500 deductable.

I generally have to pay around $80 per month.  $960 a year.

That's with a good driving history (no tickets, no at fault accidents) and a 5% AAA discount.

Yes, and both are overpriced and give policies to high risk drivers.
