A name I've been thinking about lately. He's white, southern, and moderate. Why not?

He would be good, but I believe there are better ones.

and he ia catholic!

here are the knocks against easley:

1.  he isnt a team player.  he is not liked among democrat activists  this goes way back to his days as district attorney.  there was also him declining to show up at the kerry/edwards kick off rally.  and he has been a popular governor for 8 years, and i dont think he has once campaigned for a state legislative candidate.

2.  he is an awkward campaigner.  naturally shy.  he did very little face to face campaigning during his campaigns for governor.

3.  i understand his academic career was not very good.  (this is blamed ona  learning disability)

Here is a clip of Mike   Easley.  One would not mistake him for a Yankee.

Hmm.  A possibility.  He won by larger margins than Kaine or Webb did in VA.  Plenty of executive experience, no foreign policy or military though.  He could help carry NC in a close race.

Like Josh said, there may be better ones, but I wouldn't dismiss Easley.

I like Lieberman more in prison, personally.
