Last night, my roommates and I threw a Sarah Palin Halloween party.

I don't make an especially convincing Sarah Palin (yes, I know it's the wrong color hair).  I also lost my Palin glasses about 10 minutes into the party.

Very nice picture, Torie. Thanks for posting!

You are welcome sir. It is an art piece I think, but I am not objective about that. You can imagine how moving it was to me, to see it for the first time, 53 years later. I am glad I remained long enough on this mortal coil to see it, at last!

Torie, you're old.  I mean, I thought I was old...Tongue

But that picture does bring back some memories.  I have a very vague memory of fishing with my grandpa when I was six.  He died when I was eight.

That looks like one that would be put in some politician's campaign ad, with a voiceover saying that "Candidate would protect family values and improve our education system".

And I mean that as a compliment Smiley

Amazing photo. Black and white often seems more, I don't know, real (if that's the right word) than colour for some reason.

I agree, when when used properly B&W photography can be incredibly evocative. I'm guessing there was no choice to use colour back when that photo was taken, but still Smiley

Black and white is more evocative of that with which we connect emotionally. Color gets in the way. I don't know why our brain works that way, but it does. Even a sanguinary slaughter would be more elegiac in black and white than color, because the color is just too up close and personal. One needs a bit of distance to connect. Whatever. Black and white photos move me, and I have paid some fair coin for ones I love. Color ones do not, and never have.

But I love this one best for personal reasons. It's priceless to me.
