Considering there's only one South Shore seat (62), the answer is kinda easy.

THis is a better article, however.  Highly amusing.

Funny election that.
In the primary, Ignizio got 41%, Straniere 32% and Bruno 27%. Says somewhere that Bruno was Molinari's man and Ignizio was Fossella's.

In the general, Ignizio (who now has been promoted(?) to city councillor) got 64%, the Democrat 18%, Straniere got 12% on the Independence and Working Families lines, and Bruno got 5% on the Conservative line.
There seem to have been no primaries for the Independence, WF and Conservative lines.

You get elected to City Council, and it occurs the same time as the Mayoral election.  However, Ignizio was elected in 2007 through a special election to the South Shore seat, succeeding Andrew Lanza, who was elected to the South Shore State Senate seat.  There are three SI seats on the City Council - one for the North Shore (which is McMahon's seat), Mid-Island (that's Oddo, the other Republican) and South Shore.

The question mark was just because I wasn't sure whether this was a step up or down.
