McCormack had a stellar record advancing some of the best aspects of Liberalism.

Gingrich actually is a close second IMO even though he's diametrically opposed.

None of the above...

write in Sam Rayburn (D-TX), from the good-ol'-days.

I have no use for any of them. They all suck.  It is odd we have had such a long series of pathetic speakers. The Senate leaders have tended to be better.

If I had extended a few more years onto the poll, he would have made it in; and he was the best Speaker in US history.

I like Gingrich because of his strong Christian witness.

Oh, BTW, I AM a Democrat.

I think he was a fine Speaker but a lot of my problems lie with Newt's personal decisions that would disgust anyone. Is this the same "strong Christian witness" that left his wife as she was battling cancer?

I was listening to him on Dr. Charles Stanley's InTouch ministry broadcast from June 29 as Newt was the guest speaker that morning during the service and he knows that America needs to rediscover God in her country, again.

He's not without his faults (none of us are, save for Jesus Christ himself), but I think he has more positives than he does negatives.  He wasn't that bad of a Speaker, either.  He was certainly far better than his successor Denny (Do-Nothing) Hastert.

Well, at least the Religious Wing of the conservatives tend to be economically reasonable. They are not poor haters like most conservatives.

So you want to impoverish America by socialist stagnation and religious foolishness? You do realize the result would be economic collapse on a soviet scale followed by tens of millions of 'german-americans' discovering their german-ness plus every american jew heading to israel, mexicans leaving the southwest, streams of irish, japanese, chinese heading out... Basically NDN would be in Bogota, BRTD in Sweden and trying to get his cousins there, myself in a trendy/well off neighborhood of mexico city and Naso looking into moving to Italy.

There's something really funny about the nickname 'Tip'.  What's the British version, 'Bell-end' O'Niel?
