I probably won't be able to send moves since it's my birthday and I got better things to do.   I didn't prepare in advance because I'm an idiot, natch

Cheesy  I'll drink a shot for you tomorrow, Lunar!

No worries - as I said, while I'm on holidays I'm going to be fairly loose with deadlines. I'll adjudicate when I have everyone's moves, so no rush. I'll be back in Melbourne in time for next week's deadlines.

More importantly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I hope you have a wonderful day, and well, a wonderful rest of the year!

The vote on a draw was resolved in the negative at this time.

Draws are very difficult to arrange, particularly if one front is still in motion.

The French army is retreating to Bohemia. It's really late and I'm going to bed now. I'll do the map in the morning.

Yep. Needed it to deal with Turkish Tunis a while back.

Lol - sorry about that mistype. It's those two Irish avatars confusing me, or at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I must admit, I was a little surprised about the use of Syria, I'd somewhat expected to see Ankara as the retreat of choice. Of course, it would probably lead to a disband next turn anyway, but the Aegean possibly could have supported a move from there to Constantinople or something, not that I should be commenting on gameplay - that's not my role, so I'll stop there. Here's the updated map:

The moves this week were:

France
F Aegean Sea - Greece (*Dislodged*)
A Apulia Supports A Tuscany - Venice
A Burgundy - Munich (*Fails*)
F Greece - Albania
F Gulf of Lyon - Tyrrhenian Sea
A Munich - Tyrolia (*Fails*)
F Rome Holds
A Syria - Armenia (*Fails*)
A Tuscany - Venice
F Tyrrhenian Sea - Ionian Sea

Russia
A Armenia Supports F Smyrna (*Cut*)
A Bohemia Supports A Silesia
A Bulgaria - Greece (*Bounce*)
F Constantinople - Aegean Sea
A Moscow Supports A Warsaw (*Cut*)
A Sevastopol Supports A Moscow
A Silesia Supports A Warsaw
F Smyrna Supports F Constantinople - Aegean Sea
A Tyrolia Supports A Venice (*Cut*)
A Warsaw Supports A Silesia (*Cut*)

Italy
A Venice Holds (*Dislodged*)

Germany
N/A

Austria-Hungary
N/A

Turkey
N/A

England
F Baltic Sea - Prussia (*Fails*)
F Barents Sea - St Petersburg (nc) (*Fails*)
F Berlin Supports F Baltic Sea - Prussia (*Fails*)
F Gulf of Bothnia Supports A Livonia
F Helgoland Bight Supports A Kiel
F Holland Supports A Kiel
A Kiel Supports A Burgundy - Munich
A Livonia Supports A Prussia - Warsaw
F North Sea Holds
A Prussia - Warsaw (*Fails*)
A St Petersburg - Moscow (*Fails*)

After moves but before retreats, the map now appears thus:

Retreats are required for:

Italy
A Venice

France
F Aegean Sea

The moves I found most interesting were:

F Aegean - Greece (France)
A Bulgaria - Greece (Russia)
F Constantinople - Aegean Sea (Russia)
F Smyrna Supports F Constantinople - Aegean Sea (Russia)

Resulting in the two units vying for Greece standing each other off, while the supported move on the Aegean then dislodged the Fleet there. If either Bulgaria hadn't moved to Greece, or the move on the Aegean had been unsupported, there wouldn't have been any retreats.

noooooOOOOOOOOO

ITALY

I thought Jas wouldn't have the guts to have his unit in Munich be in motion because I was likely to attempt to retake my Bavarian beer gardens.  Shucks, I could have taken it too now.

Did Lewis include the "East Mediterranean Sea" in his areas never before visited?

I'm glad I'm so interesting to Smid!  I was kind of worried about his unit in Syria colluding with his unit in Aeg against Smyrna in various ways.

Grin

I figured you would know I was gunning for Venice and would defend Trieste from an  inevitable Italian retreat.

Sad

Do I or don't I want to continue?  To retreat or not to retreat?  That is the question.  Whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of losing the game or to take arms against a sea of troubles and by retreating to Trieste, end it.

Retreats:

A Venice retreats to Trieste.

My relevance in the game is disbanded.

Me?  Without any home bases to build new units?  I'm to a point where it would do me absolutely no good to take Serbia, etc.  Even if I wanted to backstab Lunar, I couldn't.

I think it is worth noting the incredible patience shown by England. It's now fall 1912 and England has held the same 11 centers since fall 1908. Many other players would have shifted strategies in frustration, so I salute the King for his stalwart play.

There is no such thing as a King. There has not been a King in England since 1837. The last Crown Prince was hanged together with all his living relatives, except the ancient Queen whom we sent to a workhouse, during the Glorious Revolution of 1899.

You're saluting the Ingsoc gensec.
