I take it Ben's a pacifist.

I also take it that Gustaf didn't submit builds.

I also take it that Erc and Lewis are the frontrunners.

Hm. I Pmed Smid yesterday about my builds hoping he would allow them (I of course forgot about the provisional builds thing). If he doesn't I guess I'm screwed due to that silly mistake...

I have two questions: one, did Gustaf order his builds before Smid issued his maps?  If so, Gustaf's builds should be allowed, as Gustaf didn't have the unfair advantage of seeing everyone else's builds.

Secondly: Would Ben please submit orders next turn?  Any orders?

I believe the answer is no. I did, however, issue the orders before I checked the thread since I realized when I logged on that I had forgot about it. But there is no way for me to prove that (other than my impeccable word as a gentleman Tongue) so if the other players refuse it I will obviously have to accept that.

Despite that fleet of his in the Black Sea, I'm willing to take Gustaf's word as a gentleman here.  This game is messed up enough as it is, and I think many of us nearly ended up in his position ourselves.

Thank you. I should add that I had a big family gathering celebrating my birthday on saturday which is why I couldn't rectify my actions earlier.

I am perfectly ready to endorse whichever decision Smid takes on the matter.

Provided that I know about the builds before I have to decide my next moves. Grin

Press Release from the government of the Kingdom of Italy:

Prime Minister Mikado expresses his respects to the Heads of State of England, France, Germany, Austria, Turkey, and Russia.  He would like to remind them that their generals cannot function without orders, and that all nations should submit orders this spring.

All glory to the House of Savoy,

Prime Minister Mikado

Lewis: I would, but as Smid seems unreachable I'm beginning to give up on getting the builds. Not getting them obviously makes it a bad idea to state them, so...

Anyone know when Smid gets back?  I'm anxious to see how my move went.

Hello all,

Sorry I've been unreachable - things were a fair bit busier than I'd anticipated. I'll do the spring orders tonight, and if necessary, we can push Fall's orders back a week if you'd prefer.

On the flight up, I gave quite a bit of thought to Gustaf's position re: builds. I believe the fairest thing to do would be to allow him his Winter 1901 builds immediately following Spring 1902. This prevents him from gaining any real advantage of seeing other nations' builds, while at the same time not penalising him too harshly. Effectivley it means he is disadvantaged for one turn, rather than two.

I just got back this evening (and just logged on to 11 new PMs...). I'll sort out the orders after dinner and upload the new maps then.

I sent you two scenarios based on what's done about Gustaf's builds... and this is certainly not a scenario I envisaged. Now I need a moment to think this through.

I think if Gustaf is given his two builds, it is much preferable for me if they're around now, actually.

Meh. Use the "Gustaf has been building just like everybody else" scenario for my moves. Pretend this never happened.

That's only fair if both Gustaf and Erc also submitted two sets of orders.

PS: Welcome back, Smid.  If you can sort this mess out and get the game back on track, you have the wisdom of Solomon.

Lewis's two sets of orders were based on my ruling as to whether or not Gustaf would be allowed to build. Basically, a "if you allow him his builds, then this is how I will move. If you don't allow him his builds, then these will be my build orders," so his moves were based entirely upon my ruling rather than Gustaf's orders.

I'm sorry I've been away when this has all happened. If I'd been around, I'm sure we could have resolved it all.

I was unable to put up the current status after dinner last night (as initially planned) because Gustaf was waiting on my ruling to determine his moves. I've now received his move orders, however I don't have Realpolitik on my work computer, so I'll have to do that this evening.

I'm glad to see everything will work out.  Smiley

Just out of curiosity, how many time zones is Australia from America?  (Any American time zone would do, I can figure it out from there).  I'm too lazy to look it up and count right now.

I have received retreats from Xahar and Builds from Gustaf. I will update the map tonight, but I'll put them here for people planning their moves...

Xahar's units are both retreating north - to Bohemia and Budapest...

Gustaf's Builds are a Fleet on the South Coast of St Petersburg and an Army in Warsaw.
