How is this race looking now that we are roughly 15 1/2 months out?  When is the Virginia State Primary for 2009?

Fundraising numbers for the first six months of the year:

Bob McDonnell: $878,000 raised, $1.2 million CoH
Brian Moran: $1.4 million raised*, $924,000 CoH
Creigh Deeds: $783,000 raised, $650,000 CoH

*including money from another campaign account.

Deeds has been trying to wring endorsements out of Northern Virginia lately. I don't know if that's going to help; it sure didn't help Harris Miller.

The primary will be in June of next year.

Until the whole "will Tim Kaine be Obama's running mate and be elected" thing is settled, who's running for what on the GOP side may change big.

If Lt. Gov. Bolling becomes Governor, that means he will run for a full term of his own instead of for re-election as Lt. Gov and Bob McDonnell will run for AG again.  McDonnell had been seen as a stronger candidate for Governor, but conventional wisdom is that Virginians may not be keen on the idea of three governors in the space of little over a year and choose to keep Bolling.

I'm starting to think it will be Kaine, because his Finance Secretary, Jody Wagner, just resigned in order to run for Lt. Governor. She'd have an easier race in an open seat than against an incumbent, even if it is Bolling.

Do the Democrats have an AG candidate? It seems that a wealthy businessman with backing from Mudcast and Steve Jarding will face off against Wagner for the Lt. Gov. nomination.

State Delegate Steve Shannon is running, and it's possible that Virginia Democratic Party chairman Dickie Cranwell (whose term as chairman will be up in 2009) is going to run as well.

Any new information?  I haven't seen any polls, yet, but I suppose that isn't a surprise.
