not really.  seems a fair number of republicans on this board find it arrogant and offputting when obama supporters suggest that obama may win states previously won by republicans in presidential elections, particularly if bill clinton failed to win them, but sometimes even if bush carried them twice that's enough.  This is true regardless of any possible facts suggesting that it is possible or even probable.

Thanks for responding. Well, I think polls are just polls. But, I don't think anyone can deny the fact that Nevada has been very competitive in the last two presidential elections.  Bush won the state by ~21,000 votes in 2004. Democrats now have a 50,000 advantage in voter registration. Republicans had a 1% edge in 2004, now Democrats have a ~5-6% edge. That is very dramatic. Of course, this does not account for the fact that we have months to go and turnout will be very important. The hispanic population is overwhelmingly democratic in Nevada and the higher they turnout, the higher chances Obama has of winning the state. There are organizations in the state actively registering Latinos. We'll see what happens.

It's amazing that Obama is arrogant enough to campaign in a Republican state like Nevada. What an elitist!!

On a more serious note... this is the first poll since March that has had Obama ahead. That in itself is good news

So, Obama's lead is shrinking nationally, and yet he's taking the lead in NV and expanding his margins in the Midwest and the big Democratic states? Odd.

Look at the approvals, though:

McCain: 60% approve, 39% disapprove
Obama: 52% approve, 47% disapprove

What would be funny as hell is that if this map is what we saw on 11-5-08-

Probably a 50/50 map....

I'm not convinced it's shrinking nationally; didn't he get a couple of +8s this week along with some narrower leads? The tracking polls are showing some movement, but God knows what that means.

Rasmussen math again.  He shows McCain up by 17 with indies but losing the state.

I give up.

Of course McCain is going to win Indies; embarrassed Republicans are calling themselves independents, and band-waggoning independents are calling themselves Democrats.
