note to the obamaphiles, this isnt asking which ticket you *like* better, but rather, which ticket would have been stronger.

warner/obama

Warner can easily flip IA and VA from 2004 and he wins. Thats it.

Under the right scenario he could pull off a Bill Clinton-esque victories of 370+.

Prediction: Republicans will say Warner/Obama because they don't like Obama while 'Obamaphiles' will say Obama/Warner because they think voters value style over substance.

Is this a nunc pro tunc thing, or a switcheroo effected now?  If the latter, Warner/Obama would sink like a rock. If done nunc pro tunc, maybe Warner/Obama depending on how Warner preformed under the klieg lights in the major leagues. Remember how Richardson looked good at the starting gate?  By the end, he was reduced to an annoying cloying hack.

i think warner could have made several southern states competitive...va, nc, ar, la...maybe georgia.

warner is popular with white southerners and has always done well with the peckerwood demographic (though granted he knows no limit to his pandering to that group)

and of course obama would have energized the blacks.

obama/warner wouldnt do nearly as well in the south, because, as brtd likes to remind us, vps only have so much impact.

Wrong. I prefer asking questions rather than answering them actually. Tongue

Mark Warner has never been forced to perform in the national spotlight, and candidates often are surprisingly less effective on the national stage than the state stage.  Plus, "Style over substance?"  How much of an advantage does a one-term ex-governor have over a one-term US Senator?

I like Mark Warner, but I think people here overestimate him.

The common perception is/would be had he ran for President is that Warner has more meaningful achievements than Obama has. Who gives a sh**t about its veracity?

Both tickets seem like they would be pretty successful. But I think Warner at the top would be the most successful and stronger.

If option number one was running right now, the race would all but officially be over.

Warner/Obama.

Warner, had he run, would have won Virginia with 53% easily, and he locks down Iowa, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.

Lest we forget, while Warner was Governor, Virginia was named "America's Best Managed State."

Warner/Obama, since I would probably be voting for that ticket. Warner is one of the few Democrats I could actually see myself voting for. Also, yes, the race would be officially over right now and, unless he really screws up, President Warner would have 8 years in office.

Well I would give my left testicle.  I'd give my right too if it meant I could vote for him twice.  I'd give an arm if it meant my votes would be in a swing state.

And what would make a poet worthy of worship? Or a singer? An actor?

I didn't mention the final two, but a poet doesn't forgo truth for power, unlike the politician.

Why don't people understand a normal healthy man-crush on Warner?  I mean, he's just so charming.  Who wouldn't walk at least a mile for him??

Mark Warner is the Chuck Norris of politics. Impossible is nothing for Warner!

Even I think the Warner hype is out of control.
